Started in 1852, the Barry County Fair moved from its location in downtown Hastings to our present site in 1990. With the advantage of more space and a lot of hard work by many volunteers, today's present 160 acre site boasts 6 barns, 3 outdoor arenas, a ½ mile racetrack, a 260 site campground with water/electric hook-ups; parking for up to 4,000 cars and the Expo Center with two Banquet Halls and a fully licensed kitchen. Whether it's the Fair, a horse show, snowmobile grass drags, antique show or a wedding reception, we offer something for everyone!
The mission of the Barry County Agricultural Society is to provide the best county fair possible for all residents of Barry and surrounding counties. It provides a gathering place for all communities to showcase their products and skills. It creates educational, social, cultural and economic opportunities to preserve and promote agriculture and traditions. The Barry County Agricultural Society provides the most valuable, educational and entertaining experience that resources will allow. Operations of the fairgrounds facilities year round are to serve the community by providing multi purpose facilities for both public and private events in a responsible manner generating economic stimulation and tourism development in the community.
In carrying out the purpose of the Barry County Agricultural Society, policies and activities will be guided by following the rules of the State, County, and the Board of Directors.
